What this site is, and what it is not
Bitebooker is the software some restaurants use to run their dining room and bookings. This site is its public half: a list of places to search and to start a booking from.
We are not the restaurant. We do not cook, we do not run the room, we do not set the prices and we cannot guarantee how the evening went. When you book, the relationship is between you and the restaurant: we pass the booking along and give you a page to follow and cancel it.
Two ways to get a table, and they are not the same
- Instant confirmation — the place uses Bitebooker. Pick a time and a number of seats and the table is yours the moment you press. If the party is large or the room nearly full, the booking still reaches the restaurant but waits for a person to decide: we tell you that in different words, because it is a different thing.
- On request — the place does not use Bitebooker. We pass the request along and tell you by when to expect an answer. It may not come, and if the restaurant left us no contact details we say so straight away instead of letting you wait for nothing.
We never write «book» where the table is not guaranteed.
Cancelling
You cancel from the booking page — the one whose link arrives by email and that you find under «My bookings». It works until the day has passed.
The restaurant may have its own rules — notice periods, deposits, a charge for large parties — and those are between you and them: if in doubt, phoning them is the safest way.
Listings come from public sources, and they age
The catalogue starts from open mapping data and company registers, plus whatever restaurateurs add when they claim their listing. It means opening hours, contact details and even whether a place still exists may be out of date: we do what we can to keep them right, we cannot guarantee it.
That is why every listing has a way to tell us something is wrong, and it needs no sign-up. When several people report the same thing consistently, the listing leaves the site until it is checked. Reporting falsely to damage a competitor is a misuse of that tool, and we reserve the right to disregard reports of that kind.
Reviews
You write one review per visit, and only for a booking made here, linked to your account, already in the past and not cancelled. That is not a formality: it is what makes the «all verified» line next to them true.
By writing, you accept that the review is public and stays readable on the restaurant's page with the rating, the text and your first name. What must not be in it:
- insults, threats, discriminatory content;
- other people's data — a waiter's name, somebody's phone number, someone else's photograph;
- advertising, links to services, copied text;
- things that did not happen on that visit.
We can remove a review that breaks these rules, and we tell whoever wrote it that it happened and why: they find it in their personal area with the reason next to it. The restaurant may reply publicly, and its reply appears under the review.
We do not edit the text of reviews, we do not reorder them in favour of whoever pays and we do not sell their removal. Whoever wrote one can withdraw it whenever they like.
Signing in
Accounts come from Loonar ID, and exist to link your bookings and to write reviews. The credentials are Loonar's and its terms apply; what applies here is that you are responsible for what is written from your account.
Uses we do not accept
This site is for people looking for a table. It is not acceptable to extract the catalogue automatically in order to resell or rebuild it elsewhere, to send false bookings, to try to read other people's bookings, or to use the forms to send messages unrelated to a booking.
If something does not work
We work to keep the site up; we cannot promise it is always reachable. If the site is down and you have a booking, the restaurant is still reachable by phone: the table you booked does not depend on this page.
If these terms change
The date at the top says when the text is from. Changes apply from when they are published, and do not alter bookings already made.
